The Path of the Gatekeepers

There are many paths under the Wiccan "umbrella". Many are heriditary. Some are taught and passed down to students. Some are traditonal. Others are offshoots of traditions. Some are solitary. Some paths are combinations of other paths, merging together to form a new path. It seems that new paths pop up overnight. The Wiccan religion is growing strong and steadily. So where does the Path of the Gatekeeper fit in to this scheme?

I was initiated into the Path of the Gatekeeper about eight years ago. It was my fate and destiny to find the people who taught me the basics of practising the craft. My eyes were opened. Gradually I became aware that I am here, as a Gatekeeper, to help people. Not too long ago I met my soul-mate, my better half, who is also a destined Gatekeeper. Now we work together to help people. So what exactly is a Gatekeeper? Well, there is nothing exact about it. We find ourselves in positions to help people when they find themselves at crossroads in their lives. When they have approached a gateway that seems locked to them, we are the ones who open that gateway, portal, or door. We don't make the decisions for them nor do we just open the door and push them in. It does not work like that. Through communication with ones on the "other side" we open the gate for the person who has been brought to it for whatever reasons. It is not for us to judge why they are there, or what the consequences will be for going forth through the gate. We provide the information for them to make a choice and the opportunity to proceed through the "gate" if they should choose to do so ( and most of the time they proceed, because it is time for them to do so ). So far as we can tell, the proceeding through these "gates" is something that is necessary for the progression of the soul, and something that is supposed to happen during this incarnation. In other words, the work we do is always for the positive progression for the persons we help. 

There are several groups and individuals out there who call themselves "gatekeepers". We are not associated with any group, or tradition. We are constantly forming our own tradition. We believe that we both have been "gatekeepers" through-out many, many  lifetimes. It is true that if one looks at ones life thus far, one will see where individuals have been there at times of crossroads and such and seem to have been the gatekeepers during certain times, assisting them through gateways that changed their lives. We do not claim to be the "one and only" gatekeepers. In fact most people if they look deep and hard enough will find that they, too have helped people cross through gateways of major change in life. We believe that this is how it is supposed to happen. When we help people, we are called to do so by others on the other side. It is like a job. We are called to go to work. We have taken vows in this life and many other past lives to serve mankind in this fashion. We do not get rewards for our work, nor do we score "browny points" with those on the other side. It is something that must be done.

We have been gatekeepers  since we were born into this incarnation. Being of the Wiccan faith did not "make" us gatekeepers. Practising the craft has opened our eyes and helped us to understand who we are. Through past life regression we have come to terms with who we are, and who we were.
